Sugaring uses an all-natural paste (sugar + lemon + water) pulled in the direction of hair growth. Waxing uses a synthetic resin pulled against the growth. Sugaring is gentler, hygienic (no double-dipping), and causes fewer ingrowns.
At least 1/4 inch (the length of a grain of rice). If it's shorter, the paste can't grab the hair to remove it from the root. About 2 weeks of growth after shaving.
Less than waxing for most clients. Sugaring pulls in the direction of growth so it tugs less. First Brazilian is the most intense; subsequent appointments get easier as hair grows back finer.
Every 4-6 weeks. The more consistent you are, the finer + sparser the regrowth, and the less uncomfortable each session.
Exfoliate the day before (not the day of). Avoid caffeine 2 hours before. Skip retinoids on the treatment area for 48 hours.
Keep the area dry and clean for 24 hours. Avoid hot showers, saunas, swimming pools, and tight clothes for 12-24 hours. Exfoliate 2-3 times a week starting day 3 to prevent ingrowns.
